Mission Statement
The Caring Closet is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children grades K-12 in the Hamilton City School District, by providing clothing and basic necessities to those in need. We believe positive self esteem enhances the educational process and we rely on the generosity of our community to help us achieve our goal.
In 2010 The Caring Closet started in a single basement. One short year later we outgrew that small space and moved into The Hamilton Business Center. As of October 2012, we moved to our current home at 6 South D Street in Hamilton, Ohio, at the corner of Main Street and D Street. The Caring Closet accepts clean, gently used or new articles of clothing, shoes, new packages of underwear and socks, and new toiletries. Referrals for packages are submitted by Success Liaisons within The Hamilton City School District over a secure network and the orders are assembled here at The Caring Closet by volunteers. The privacy of all students and families is respected and is kept in confidentiality. We strive to make your experience with The Caring Closet a positive one whether it’s through volunteering, the actual referral program, or our strong community support system.
The Caring Closet has grown a great deal since it started in that single basement and it is continuing to grow each year. We rely on our community for volunteers, successful fundraising events, clothing/shoes/toiletry donations as well as monetary support. Help out your local non-profit and truly make a difference in the lives of our community’s children in need!
